This past weekend King of the hill- 18u St Charles 9/26-27
This past weekend I attended The King of the hill 18u in St Charles as a Parent, with My daughter's team having a invite to this one of a kind Tournament!
Let me say it was a great tournament, Dave Betcher and staff once again is TOP notch when it comes to perfecting these tournaments and I hear the 16u tournament when well as planed also
This Tournament gave The TOP Elite teams and programs in the Midwest a chance to play each other head to head, and it was not a disappointment to see. This was a equal playing field and who ever was on top of their game did well, it was like forget pool play and maybe we face each other in bracket play.... it was like NO ! lets go at it right now.
I know their were a few teams Like (Hawks Judge, Bulls/Sox Academy & Rockers DD and others ) who were missing some players due to College Visits or Homecoming but they all still competed really well.
All the teams did well, and just shows that on any given day you can get beat. This was a good prep for the Elite teams and their coaches to see what their teams look like and what they have to change and work on .
The good thing about this kind of tournament is that you knew going in that you were playing good teams and there was no letting down or coasting through, which makes it harder for some teams to ride a tournament on 1 pitcher, because this weekend you needed at least 3 top pitcher to go deep. I feel Dave and Bill will have more like this in the coming future.
On a side note, I didn't see as many crazy Parents this weekend, maybe cause everyone knows their roll on the team? don't get me wrong ,were there Dads on the sidelines being Bleacher coaches? you bet there were. but not as many or maybe its early in the fall season..
Congrats to the Bandits for winning at 18s & 16s... they looked very good BUT THERE ARE A FEW TEAMS THAT WILL COMPETE WITH THEM you heard it hear first ...
