I reached out to Dale Ryndak, the IL Gatorade player of the year and asked her how she did it this season and she how was able to come back after she hurt her ACL last year and her choice of school.
"I would not consider my injury one of the best things to ever happen to me, but I would never be the player I am today without that experience. I have learned more from sitting out for a year than playing for four years. My first game back was the first high school game this spring and it didn't feel like I missed anything. Playing softball again feels just as natural as it did before my injury. Mike Johnson, one of my high school coaches, worked with me harder than anyone. He over prepared me for the season since I was so fearful of not coming back to compete at the same level as the other girls. Getting back into working out and playing again started out slower than had hoped, but with Coach Pat Rzegocki and Coach Mike Johnson helping me, I couldn't have asked for better support. Going to Arizona State is a dream come true and I couldn't have imagined going there in a million years. Overall it was a very humbling experience and being named the Gatorade player of the Year was much more than I ever expected and it is such an incredible honor to even be considered for any of the awards I won this year."
