Sarah Moulton first knew Emily as a rival in the Big Ten. Sarah Moulton first knew Emily as a rival in the Big Ten. Yesterday, when I wrote up the info on the Slappers Clinic taking place this weekend in Elgan,Minn. featuring pro standout Emily Allard, I was wondering howone of the top slappers in the sport got connected to this cool event. In mid-August, I had written up an article detailing how former Minnesota All-American pitcher Sara Moulton has joined forces with another former Gopher pitcher Michelle Harrison to start a training company called Strike Zone Sports. Both Saraand Emily are on the Chicago Bandits of the NPF so that’s the obvious connection, but when I asked Sara how she came to invite Emily to the clinic, she gave a fun history of their friendship… check it out below! She was the most feared slapper in the B1G conference because she didn’t strike out much and if Emily put the ball in play on the ground, it was almost impossible toget her out. Even with the rivalry, I still admired her as a player. She was fun to watch. After we both got drafted by the Chicago Bandits, Emily actually reached out to me and asked if Iwanted to be roommates for the summer. Of course I said yes and we joked about having to keep the B1G girls together! Emily made the All-NPF Team as a rookie this past season. Emily made the All-NPF Team as a rookie this past season. We actually foundthat we had a lot of things in common besides softball. Both of us studied marketing in college and we both had dreams we wished to fulfill. One of mine was owning my own pitching businessin Minnesota someday and having my own facility. When MichelleHarrison contacted me later in the summer about partnering with her business and getting a facility, I couldn’t have been more excited!” Emily was super happy for me when I told her the news and she told me if there was ever anything she could do to help to contact her. That’s when the idea of hosting a slapping clinic in our new facility came up. What better way to get people into the facility than to host clinics? Since Emily was already planning on coming to visit me in Minnesota the weekend of October 11th, I thought why not do a slapping clinic one of thedays?” We hosted many clinics for the Bandits over the summer and after watching how Emily interacted with the kids, I knew she would be the perfect instructor for our Minnesota slapping clinic. She’s extremely passionate about softball and her charismatic energy draws young girls to her. I can tell she really loves to give back to the game and one way is by instructing young aspiring players. We couldn’t be more thrilled about hosting our first Strike Zone Sports clinic with Emily Allard
