There are always comments about PGF vs ASA and the other alphabets
Yes in the regional events there are many teams who play a cross section of several alphabets. Some teams are aspiring to step up their game, others are looking at venues, locations, dates that fit their schedules, and others are dissatisfied with some other organizations and want to give PGF a try. In the Midwest, we have striven to provide quality regional events with fences, no gate fees, 2 umpires, maintained fields, and a friendly atmosphere. We try to offer at least 5 game guarantees in most events, some have had 6 game guarantees. We try to hold the costs of events down. I personally have the goal of eliminating the elitist mentality and treating all programs with respect. By raising the level of all programs, we make the sport stronger, and we offer more support for the student athletes working so hard at the game.
Why do we want regional events, and why are we supporting all programs with our Futures program? Because whether you are an established elite program; or one that aspires to become a destination for developing future college players; or you are new and unknown in recruiting circles; PGF has the foot print to ASSIST you and HELP you give fair value to your families and student athletes, The cost in most every TEAM program around here is the same, a couple still offer hotels and travel costs for their players, but most programs are charging similar rates. Some programs have A and B level teams in their same programs. Some offer the world to select teams and use the weaker teams to cover expenses. Not every player can play on an elite team and travel the country chasing dreams. But there have been many very quality programs pop up over the last 10 years that are really working and striving to take those steps forward and establish credibility and value in recruiting circles for their student athletes. That is where PGF and our endeavors are focused at the regional level. Offering every club a chance to grow, compete, set their sites, and improve over time.
If any program would like my or others in PGF advise, we are all more than happy to help a team or program in your growth, Do programs like the Bandits, Lightning, Chill have tryouts or recruit top players for their programs? Sure they do. But don't all programs, no matter your status or level of play, look to add players each year? Look at what Gerry Q has been providing for recruiting advise at www.ilsoftball.com ... he and Bill C and Jim A and Brad D and Steve S and Mike J and myself and several others are always willing to help student athletes no matter what team they play for.
PGF is being lead to respond to what programs and colleges want to see, Is it about running a business in California ... of course it is ... but that business is like any other, it thrives when it produces a product in demand. Posters are absolutely correct, PGF events have teams from all the other alphabets. But the elite PGF teams do not cross back over typically, so as teams and programs develop and compete at higher and higher levels, the bar will be set higher and some of those teams some people currently disparage will elevate their programs and offer value and success to that many more young ladies dreams and aspirations.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
