Good morning , its Monday and what a great day it is!.
I wanted to chat about this HBO program that was aired last week and looks to be a movie soon called Trophy Kids,
in my years in youth sports I have seen this too many times,my self included, but I learned to step back and bite my lip plenty of times,it was scary to watch that program with those parents being as crazy as they were, and trust me ,people will continue to do it,because they think their pumpkin will be a star, I don't disagreed of their kid being a star, but at what cost? too many kids are quitting sports because they are burned out!and parents are too tough on them, some of us call it tough love, but is it really tough love? or is the parent trying to live their own dreams though the child?
as for myself I call it tough love cause im showing them what it takes to be successful in life , not just the sports they are playing,im teaching them that nothing is handed to them, life is all about pressure and as a adult you will be faced with these thing everyday.but that's me, in this trophy kids program, they took it to the xtreme some of the parents need help, but that's my thoughts!.
I did see crazy parents in action this weekend at my sons Basketball game, where a dad was calling plays from the stands, and the kid who was the point guard turned around and yelled I cant run that play, coach told to run another one!, I wasn't shocked cause I see it more and more, kids tell there parents to shut up,or just to go away! im glad I saw this in my self early , so im not doing harm to my kids, let your child become their own! yes you have to push them a little , but don't push them away from you! don't be that parent!
be blessed,
fyi , for those who are posting camps, game etc, note that I post those to facebook and twitter so your reach goes farther than you think.
