As we have finished the fall season and things slow down a little bit our athletes should be taking a "break" from the game. All players need a physical, mental and emotional break from the game so they can refuel the tank. The length of that break should depend on the how rigorous your fall schedule was. 3 weeks should be sufficient. After that 3 week period players should be participating in a strength training/sport performance program and taking private lessons. These lessons/workouts should be geared toward making the adjustments/changes needed to improve as a player. Identify what will make your daughter a better player and start to work on those areas. Good Luck to everyone and enjoy the time off!! Parents never get a "break", your job will be to start identifying what camps you would like your daughter to attend this winter. Choose wisely and enjoy the experience!

Great advice Kathy. The rest and recovery the girls gain from the time away from the games is more beneficial than any practices or games they can play now. Giving them time to get healthy and get their love back for the game will pay off 10 fold later in the season. Excellent first post.
