My daughter has received many offers and has narrowed it down to 2 D1, 1 D2 and 2 D3. The D1s and D2 are about 50% athletic and 50% academic (including housing). Keep in mind teams only have a certain amount of money to share with the athletes. There is no money for colleges in girls sb so they have to work around the system to get the girls scholarships. The D3s are all academic. They don't give athletic scholorships but find a way for the athletes. Grades and ACT scores are BEYOND important for the girls at ANY level. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
The offers started coming in her sophomore year. She's a junior now and has narrowed it down to these 5 schools. After talking to the coaches and visiting the schools, she is leaning away from D1 and the 2 D3 schools are climbing to the top of her list. The D1 schools have BRUTAL schedules and she's gonna have a tough major.
The organization you are with doesn't matter as long as your team is in the RIGHT tournaments. Colleges are not interested in girls that play USSSA or NSA. It's all ASA or PGF cuz that's the top talent and competition level. You need to investigate what schools would interest your DD and email them your schedule so they can come see you. Also, go to their camps and clinics to get your DD more exposure. Do exposure tournaments with a big turnout of colleges.
And above all else, communicate with your DD about what she actually wants. I know alot of girls who went D1 because the parents made them and they quit playing after their first year because they could handle the school/softball schedule.
