What a weekend to forget!! Now I really don't knock people or like to call out someone out and im really a laid back kind of guy, and you can agree or disagree with me and no hard feelings but I've had enough!
This weekend I was at the Mizuno Hawks College exposure in Joliet IL , and my complaint is not to the parents or coaches of the This Org and I will never speak bad about a kid. I happen to know some of them and that have very great teams which I saw this weekend and people put their time and money in just like anyone else. My problem is with the people running these tournaments year after year and we keep on falling for it. they put a carrot in front of us and we take the bite. but the proof is in the pudding . or should I say check book ?
First is to promote a college exposure and have about 5 coaches show up , don't blame it on the weather cause in SpringField IL this weekend at a PGF they had 20 coaches show up, ill point out the Only highlight of this tournament was the ODM testing that I was told by a few coaches that it was the highpoint of the tourney for them.
I"ve heard so many things from coaches and parents that its very upsetting to hear and taking advantage of people with their hard earn money should be a crime,
NOTES TO PONDER FOR THE NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF A TOURNAMENT LIKE THIS .
* Teams losing games on a coin toss, Really?
*emailing Coaches during the tournament to let them know the games times have changed and now its only 1 hour long drop dead . most people don't check their emails during games ..
*coaches choosing to not play the games in the morning and choosing to forfit their games because they told their players to be back by a certain time .
*Changing the Bracket schedule mutilple times to cater to other teams?
*3-10 hours gaps in between games, I know of one coach on Saturday that his first game was at 730am then his 2nd game was at 8pm ,wow!
*some guy running the tournament walking around smoking in front the girls and saying he didn't do or change the schedule, that someone above him did it and he doesn't feel its bad.wake up people !!
*1 hour &10 mins in a bracket game ,drop dead ,revert back to previous inn and coin toss? no rain ,no weather issues. on Sunday! a few teams had left already and some never showed up on Sunday!
* I was told a lot of teams not coming back to these events.
*Fields were bad, not lined , no batters box, pitching mounds look like the moon with big holes.
*lights not coming on, on time ,should have been on all day on sat! football game going on was helping light the fields .
*cold weather should be treated like rain outs, last time I checked ,High school softball doesn't let you play if it gets under a certain temperature?
*can you say girls having fun ,while colleges coaches watch them play? NOT
*taking too many teams = more money!
* I thought this was funny, PGF games balls in a ASA event.
now I know I'm missing some other points, but like a Facebook poster said , until we stop paying to be in the these tournaments and funding their teams and mortgages ,they will continue to host these God Awful tournaments.
I will say the UMPS did a great job with the weather, yes everybody was cold, but who was really having fun.
Hopefully this is the last time I have to write something like this.
Also , I see a lot of these Tournaments Directors acting like their the Gods of the softball world, not letting teams into their tourneys because they don't get their ways ,and crying like little kids, yes you know who you are, just know there is a New Era that is in Place and your tourneys wont be needed in the future. unless you make a change NOW, I agree softball is a business ,but like any business the customer is what makes you. if people don't trust you ,you will never succeed.
